This piece was started as a challenge, with fabrics chosen independently by five quilters. Not surprisingly, the fabrics did NOT coordinate in any way, shape, or fashion. I chose to over-dye 3 of the fabrics (this was allowed according to our rules), and added some hand-dyed fabrics.

I took the challenge directions and e-mail discussions about the challenge, converted them into several different fonts, including Greek and 2 symbol fonts, and printed them onto the hand-dyed fabrics.

To create perspective I made the 'bricks' progressively smaller and closer together toward the top of the quilt. I used a grey background fabric for the 'grout'.

Materials: commercial cottons, hand-dyed cottons, imported batik cotton.

Techniques: laser-printing on fabric, cut-throughs, fusing, machine applique, machine embroidery.
