Molto Fibonacci was juried into the 1997 International Quilt Association show Quilts: A World of Beauty in Houston, Tx

I went a little wild on this one! Here is a list of all the uses of Fibonacci numbers:

  • 8 sides,
  • 21 different teal fabrics
  • 13 Fibonacci plaid squares (with units of 1/4 inch: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 5/4, 8/4)
    • 8 with orange oriented vertically
    • 5 with teal oriented vertically
  • inner border widths are 1/4, 3/4, 1/4 inch
  • each of the 8 sides has a different number of "Fibonacci stripe" strips:  1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21.
  • Quilting:
    • each Fibonacci square quilted with 5 concentric squares
    • the teal fabrics between the squares are quilted with 5 lines of stitching
    • the larger solid teal squares are top-stitched in orange with a "Fibonacci plaid" pattern (see the detail pictures)
    • quilting in the border is done 1, 2, and 3 inches apart
  • Dimensions of the central area (without the borders) are 44" x 72" = .61, the fibonacci proportion.

Materials: commercial cottons.

Techniques: Machine piecing. machine quilting, top-stitching.
